The Engineering the Future expert talk, hosted by WorkNomads in partnership with the Professional Association of Robotics and Automation (PARA), brought together industry professionals to explore how simulation and AI are transforming decision making in modern manufacturing. The event featured two focused presentations. WorkNomads Industrial Automation Engineer opened with “Smarter decisions with process simulation”, explaining how simulation can model production systems, predict outcomes, and guide investment decisions. WorkNomads ICT and AI Lead followed with “The industrial AI layer: from data to predictive power”, showing how artificial intelligence can streamline operations, enhance quality, and support innovation on the factory floor.
In the first session we demonstrated how discrete event simulation provides a clear, data-driven view of complex industrial systems. We showed how simulation helps identify bottlenecks, validate system behavior, and improve production efficiency. This approach allows teams to test ideas safely before implementation and make informed decisions with measurable results. Then the conversation was expanded to artificial intelligence, showing how AI complements simulation to deliver smarter, faster, and more resilient operations. The examples included computer vision for automated quality checks, AI-assisted recipe formulation, and predictive demand forecasting. We emphasized that industrial AI must deliver real ROI, be secure, and integrate directly into existing operations.
