So, how does it work?
- First, you successfully apply for one our remote jobs
- Second, you will get a job offer to become an employee on our payroll in Bulgaria
- In order to be compliant with local legislation and thus become a Bulgarian tax resident, you will need to work and live more than 6 months in Bulgaria
- To facilitate flexible living arrangements, we have created our WN Lab Hotel, the biggest coliving and coworking space in Bulgaria. If you live here, you have a funny mixture of working from home while home is also the official workplace of all WorkNomads😊 Handy, isn’t it?
- Congratulations, you have now become a WorkNomad, free to live and work a minimum of six months remotely from Bulgaria and the other six months that is completely up to you!

However, we live in a free world, so we’re more than happy to accommodate your wishes and provide the option of a B2B between yourself and WorkNomads. The same situation would apply to non-EU residents. During their immigration process, you will be employed via platforms on a B2B contract. Our team, will explain you all the details and the process.

Finance
You will receive your salary in Bulgarian leva (BGN) – the local currency of Bulgaria and outlined in your employment contract. The BGN has a fixed exchange rate against the euro, 1 euro is 1.95583 BGN. For our B2B contracts, our team will provide you the details.
Tax regulations depend on your nationality and where you are legally registered for tax purposes. Bulgaria has one of the lowest personal income tax rates in the European Union, with a flat tax rate of 10%. It is one of the reasons why we encourage people to relocate to Bulgaria. However, you should consult with a tax professional to understand how your income is taxed and whether you need to make arrangements with your home country.
Legal
Your employment or B2B contract will be with WorkNomads. We take on all the responsibilities, obligations and tasks related to your employment.
Yes there’re two types of travels:
(i) the mandatory business trips for the specific projects which will include a daily allowance for your food and travel expenses and special insurance;
(ii) your remote work outside of Bulgaria upon your own desire is authorized and even encouraged if the project allows this, but does not include a daily allowance and we encourage you to take out an international travel insurance.
If you are a citizen of an EU member state, you have the right to stay in Bulgaria with only your valid identity card/passport for a period of up to 3 months. If you intend to stay for a longer period, you shall apply for a residence permit – which is valid for 5 years.
If you are a citizen of a third country, you have the right to stay in Bulgaria for the duration of your issued residence document.

This depends on the specific project you will be working on.
We have two types of models, (i) remote which means the job is fully remote; (ii) hybrid which means the project requires a certain level of attendance in the office, the level really depends on the project and will be explained during the interview process.
As an employee of WorkNomads, you will be socially insured in Bulgaria, with all insurance contributions being paid by the employer. For any other coverage outside of Bulgaria, please contact our team for advice.
